Call for proposals for the Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk and the Habitat Stewardship Program

10/27/2016

The 2017-2018 call for proposals for the Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk (AFSAR) and the 2017-2018 Call for proposals for the Habitat Stewardship Program (HSP) are now open.

AFSAR is now in its 14th year, and provides funding to support projects aimed at developing Indigenous capacity for participation in the recovery of species at risk, protection of habitat for species at risk, and preventing species from becoming a conservation concern.

HSP is now in its 18th year, and provides funding to help Canadians protect species at risk and their habitats and to proactively prevent other species from becoming a conservation concern. The program fosters land, water and resource use practices that maintain the habitat necessary for the survival and recovery of species at risk, enhancing existing conservation activities and encouraging new ones.

For more information on these programs and to obtain the 2017-2018 application guidelines, please visit the Environment and Climate Change Canada – Funding Programs webpage. Additional information on regional priorities for AFSAR and HSP are also attached to this email.

It is important to contact coordinators early during the Call for Proposals, in order to complete an expression of interest, discuss your project ideas, and gain access to the required on-line application portal.

(Please note, the Prevention Stream within AFSAR and HSP are almost fully subscribed for the 2017-18 fiscal year through previously-approved commitments. Please be sure to talk with your regional program coordinator early on during the application period if you are interested in applying for Prevention Stream funds.)
